The 2014-15 Education Budget Adoption Process*
On Thursday, January 30, the Board of Education voted to adopt an education budget of $157,022,051, a 3.86% increase over this year's budget, and a 0.06% increase over the original proposed budget Dr. Title brought before the board weeks ago. The 0.06% increase is due to the following BOE modifications:
But it's not over...
Dr. Title will next present this new budget before both the Board of Selectman (BOS) and Board of Finance (BOF). Each of these boards may make adjustments to the final budget number as they see fit (i.e., increase or reduce the $157,022,051).
Important Dates: Thursday, March 6- BOE budget review with BOS and BOF
Saturday, March 29- BOF Meeting, Public Comment Session
Monday, March 31- BOS budget vote
Thursday, April 3- BOF budget vote

Next, the BOS/BOF adopted budget will go before the RTM where it will be discussed, potentially adjusted and finally voted upon. The RTM vote will determine the actual 2014-15 Education Budget.

Monday, May 5- RTM budget vote
The 2014-15 Education Budget will then be brought back to the BOE where they will vote on programming and staffing adjustments as necessary. Please note, BOS, BOF and RTM members may recommend education programming and staffing changes, but only the BOE has the ability to actually make these changes.
Additionally, at the January 30 meeting, the BOE postponed the vote on the following budget items until May:
