PTA GENERAL INFORMATION
A Statement of Purpose
Children learn more, maintain a sense of well-being, and achieve greater personal satisfaction when parents, teachers, and the community work together on their behalf. The Stratfield PTA, a noncommercial, nonsectarian, and nonpartisan body, makes a significant contribution to this important collaboration by sharing ideas and opinions, providing relevant information, and developing programs and activities that strengthen the school community at large.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVE
Parent and teacher involvement is the cornerstone of the PTA. Through their participation and concern, the Stratfield PTA:
- Helps parents and teachers cooperate effectively in the education of their children, appropriately aligning home and school life.
- Creates programs and activities that are fun, as well as socially and educationally enriching, for all members of the Stratfield community.
- Speaks out on behalf of children with the school staff, the Central Office, the Board of Education and town officials.
- Tracks and disseminates information about legislative issues affecting children at the local, state, and federal levels.
Members of the Stratfield PTA can:
- Participate in activities and projects that reinforce family bonds and generate enthusiasm for the school.
- Develop programs and services - including cultural art, science, and music events - and provide materials that support and enliven the school curriculum.
- Support activities run by parent/teacher volunteers that promote learning, strengthen social skills, and reinforce the interconnections of family, school, and the community.
- Obtain information and develop skills that will help you raise and protect your children.
- Learn about significant issues affecting children in the community, and participate in decisions that affect educational policies, rules, and regulations.
- Network with other parents and community members at meetings and social events to develop new friendships and ties to the school.
